Mission Statement

Riverside Montessori Pre-School (RMPS) is based on the educational philosophy and pedagogical methods of Dr. Maria Montessori, pertaining to the instruction and training of children for the purpose of developing their individual ability and maximum potential.

RMPS strives to create an environment for learning within which children will feel safe, cherished, and empowered. The educational environment fosters respect, cooperation, order, choice within limits and provides children with the opportunity to build themselves to their fullest potential. The pre-school's peaceful and non-competitive atmosphere promotes strong moral character and human values.

At each stage of development, the child acquires the tools necessary for critical thinking, decision-making and respect for all. Under the guidance of a Montessori trained educator, the child chooses what helps him/her to construct him/herself, which results in a love of life and learning, fostering independence, self-esteem and growth.

Riverside Montessori Pre-School admits students of any race, colour, nationality and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the pre-school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, colour, nationality and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policies and other school administered programs. Riverside Montessori Pre-School accepts children at the age of 18 months for the Toddler Montessori Program and 3-6 years of age for the Bilingual Montessori junior and senior kindergarten programs.

Curriculum

Toddler Program
