RMPS is committed to professional excellence and is affiliated as a corresponding school with the American Montessori Society (A.M.S.). We are also a member school of the Ontario Federation of Independant Schools (O.F.I.S.). Affiliations by these organizations are understood by the public as assurance that the schools offer the highest standards of Montessori education. In addition, RMPS is a member school of the International Montessori Council (I.M.C.) in our quest to meet internationally recognized standards of excellence in authentic Montessori educational practice.
RMPS teachers are individual members of the American Montessori Academy (A.M.S.) Canadian Council of Montessori Teachers (C.A.M.T.) and the Montessori Teachers Association of North America (M.T.N.A.).
RMPS opened its doors on the 2nd of January to commemorate the opening of the very first “Children’s House” in Rome in 1907 by Maria Montessori. We strive to maintain the authentic “community of children” Casa dei Bambini/Children’s House Program, where teachers and students really get to know one another and thrive with daily interaction with the materials. If you wish to enrol please call the pre-school to arrange for an interview or reserve placement for your child(ren).
RMPS strives to awaken and nurture the human spirit. The Montessori Philosophy does not see the child solely as a student who’s main goal is to learn. The philosophy views the child as a unique special being. Montessori philosophy consciously designs social communities and educational experiences that cultivate the child's sense of independence, self-respect, love of peace, passion for self-chosen work done well, and ability to respect and celebrate the individual spirit within people of all ages and the value of all life.
Montessori Philosophy also teaches children not only appropriate patterns of polite behaviour, but seeks to instil basic universal values. These values include self-respect, acceptance of the uniqueness and dignity of each person we meet, kindness, peacefulness, compassion, empathy, honour, individual responsibility, and courage to speak from our minds and to speak from the heart.
